CBC Nominated in Four Categories in The Unlock Net Zero Awards
At Cudd Bentley Consulting, our sustainability team have worked hard to ensure the projects they support, use methodologies and reporting that progress our clients in their net zero goals. Driven by the Climate Changes Act 2008, there is significant government legislation and regulation enforcing net zero standards in the UK built environment.
Buildings and infrastructure account for a considerable proportion of the UK’s carbon emissions. Achieving low carbon solution is therefore a practical and urgent responsibility for our sector.
It is in this context that we are genuinely honoured to share that Cudd Bentley Consulting has been shortlisted in four categories at the Unlock Net Zero Awards 2026. These awards celebrate tangible, positive climate action across organisations and individuals, and recognition alongside so many committed peers is both humbling and motivating.
Our shortlisted categories are:
- Organisation of the Year – Built Environment & Infrastructure
- Collaboration of the Year – The South
- Skills & Training Award
- Climate Champions’ Power List
Our nomination for Collaboration of the Year is especially significant to us, as it reflects our belief that partnerships are essential if net zero is to move from aspiration to delivery. Cudd Bentley has partnered with many industry-leading organisations to develop strategies that address the critical and common shortcomings across different types of developments. Equally, the Skills & Training Award highlights an area we see as critical to long-term progress. A net zero transition will only succeed if the industry invests in people, CBC is committed to developing our sustainability consultants with the skills, confidence and understanding needed to design and deliver better outcomes.
Cudd Bentley Consulting has been recognised as a finalist in the ‘Organisation of the Year’ category for demonstrating a clear, measurable, and industry-leading commitment to delivering the net zero agenda across our operations, our project work, and our contribution to the wider built environment sector. Between January 2025 and February 2026, CBC advanced climate capability, incorporated innovation into practice, and delivered significant knowledge-sharing to help raise standards across the industry.
Our approach combines operational responsibility, technical excellence and a strong learning culture—resulting in tangible carbon reductions, scalable methodologies and evidence‑based solutions that benefit clients, partners and the wider sector.
While awards are never the objective of our work, this recognition reflects the dedication of the sustainability team and the collaborative approach we take with clients, designers, contractors, and communities. Delivering meaningful change in the built environment relies on shared intent, technical rigour, and a willingness to challenge conventional ways of working. Our intentionally recruited team gives us a field of experts who can deliver clients ambitions and meet regulatory targets.
Net zero goals matter because decisions made today such as the selection of materials and building services design can mitigate environmental impact for decades. As engineers and sustainability consultants, we have a responsibility to help our clients navigate this complexity, balancing performance, viability and social value while reducing whole-life carbon and improving resilience to a changing climate.
Finally, a nomination for the Climate Champions’ Power List is an endorsement of years of work in this sector. The list highlights individuals who have advanced net-zero homes, decarbonisation, and community-focused environmental solutions. It is important to the sustainability team that they continually contribute to progression in this space. Inclusion in a group of nominees making a positive impact is a great honour.
The winners of the Unlock Net Zero Awards 2026 will be announced at a sustainably focused ceremony on Tuesday 23 June at Manchester Central, hosted by writer, broadcaster and founder of Natural Places, Kunle Barker
