Important update for project teams working with LEED certification

From June 30, 2026, new project registrations under LEED v4.1 will close. After this date, all new registrations must follow LEED v5. Projects already registered under v4 or v4.1 may continue progressing toward certification until June 30, 2032.
LEED v5 introduces a more rigorous and outcomes‑driven framework. The scoring structure has been realigned to prioritise verified performance rather than prescriptive strategies, and thresholds for certification levels have become more demanding. Every prerequisite and credit now align with one or more of the system’s core goals:
Decarbonization
Quality of life
Ecological conservation and restoration
As sustainable engineering consultants, we know MEP design and operational strategies are essential to meet these goals. LEED v5 reflects a closer alignment with current science, encouraging design teams to consider whole‑building outcomes and long‑term performance.
This transition marks a pivotal moment for the built environment. Organisations that prepare early will be well positioned to deliver higher‑performing, future‑ready buildings.
Our team is ready to support clients as they navigate the shift to LEED v5 and translate these evolving requirements into meaningful project outcomes.
