Achieving Ambitious Sustainability Goals Throughout 2024
With net zero goals and sustainability impacting every single sector in the UK, this year our sustainability team have been busier than ever. Headed up by Sushil Pathak, the team have delivered on ambitious sustainability targets and positively impacted our local communities. Let’s look back on some of the incredible work they have achieved this year.
Meeting ambitious sustainability targets.
The sustainability team begin working with client’s feasibility and viability often long before ground has been broken. This year they have partnered with clients on a range of commercial, residential warehousing and logistics projects. This has meant working within planning constraints set by local authorities and supplying data and reports for clients to provide clarity and a roadmap towards net zero targets. Inclusive and sustainable design
Our sustainability team have worked incredibly hard this year to interact and share best practice with others in the building consultancy space and other disciplines across the built environment. We were proud to have our Director of Sustainability Sushil Pathak speak at a conference in London in April on Age Inclusive Design principles. Next generation of engineering talent
The very essence of sustainability is thinking ahead for the future and what is to come, and at Cudd Bentley, we feel the same way towards upcoming young engineering talent. As part of that commitment, this year we welcomed a student from Loughborough University onto the sustainability team for his placement. Strengthening ties with further education and developing future engineering talent with continue into 2025. To find out how George got on, please do read on.
Sustainability in the community
In the autumn, one of our sustainability consultants, Ayesha Batool was invited to be part of a panel discussion in Leicester and explore innovation and eco-conscious design. It’s important to the sustainability team that we have opportunities to contribute to a wider conversation on sustainable architecture. We look forward to more events and discussions like this in 2025.
Educating young people on sustainability
Towards the end of the year, members of the sustainability team went out to a local school for a careers fair. It was fantastic to be with young people in the community and engage with their feelings on the environment and hopefully inspire them to think about a career in sustainable building consultancy.
